So I am super excited to share my first tool!

Canva is a great tool for creating any kind of creative you need. The best part is you can create what we in the industry like to call – Brand Guidelines.
What are Brand Guidelines?
Brand Guidelines are rules you set for your brand elements. this includes things like colours, images not just logos, fonts, etc. They are important because you want to keep consistent in how you use them so you create a guideline so you can reference them as needed. Brand Guidelines are also used as a set of rules on how to use them. You may have certain parts of your brand you want use on social or the web and these guidelines you build can help what those rules look like.
Check out these great samples Canva put together.
You will most likely start with a few elements, a logo, colours & maybe a font or two. As you grow and expand you’ll add to them.
So back to my tool recommendation – Canva
Canva is an online design and publishing tool. It gives you access to great design tools for free or a small fee. It is a really intuitive tool for creating anything you might need for your new brand from logos to social media posts. Canva has design options that give sizes for all the different projects you might have. Canva has a free option that is great, the pro is even better. I decided to splurge. My goal for this project is to keep costs low but I’m not super graphically inclined so I knew I’d need the assistance the pro level offers.
We have a name – Pink Frosted to get started.
Obviously, we are going to have pink. I’m leaning towards a gentler pink, not quite baby pink.

Make sure to grab the hex # it makes everything easier to transfer between programs.

Now those that read my previous blog know that the name came more from diamonds than anything so I started there. Just playing around with sparkly diamonds and gems and trying to find something that stuck. I wasn’t having any luck, so I switched gears. What else can I pull from with the name, this is where I started to get some traction. Frosting and icing icons were pulling me in.
That’s when I pulled together this:

What do you think? I’m so happy with the way it’s turned out. The other elements I’ve added to my brand guidelines so far are:

As I go I’ll most likely add elements but I’m happy with this start.
Have you started yours??
Until next time,
